Improved Image Management Across the Platform

Discover the image selector feature in itslearning, a simplified way to upload, manage, and reuse images for enhanced personalisation and efficiency.

We're introducing this week the image selector dialogue, a unified tool for managing images in courses. Upload, crop, and select images in one place, whether you're creating new courses or updating existing ones.

This brings consistency to image handling and makes it easier to personalise courses and create engaging learning environments.

Three Ways to Add Images

The image selector offers flexibility through three distinct tabs, each serving a specific purpose:

Upload Image

Upload and crop new images directly from your computer. You can drag and drop files or browse to select them, whatever works best for your workflow. After uploading, you have full control to crop and frame your image exactly as you want it to appear.

You can choose to save uploaded images to your personal collection for future reuse. This means you can build a library of images that work perfectly for your courses, ready to use whenever you need them.

Your Images

Access your personal library of saved images. All images you've previously saved are organised in one place, making it quick and easy to maintain visual consistency across your courses.

Simply click on any saved image, crop it if needed, and apply it,  no need to upload the same image multiple times.

Illustrations

Choose from pre-defined illustrations provided by itslearning. These designed graphics are perfect for when you need a quick visual element without uploading your own images.

Note:  Your site administrator controls which illustrations are available. If you don't see all illustrations in this tab, K-12 specific illustrations may be disabled for your site.

Beyond the selector dialogue itself, you now have a dedicated space to manage all your saved images. Access it through your personal menu by clicking your profile picture in the upper-right corner and selecting "Your images."

From this page, you can:

• Upload new images to your collection
• Delete images you no longer need
• Update image descriptions for accessibility
• View when each image was uploaded

Accessibility at the Core

We've built accessibility into every aspect of the image selector. When uploading images, you can add image descriptions that screen readers use to describe the visual content to users who can't see it. This ensures that your courses remain inclusive and accessible to all learners.

The cropping tool itself is designed to work seamlessly with keyboards and screen readers, making image management accessible to everyone.

Where You'll Find the Image Selector

The image selector dialogue is currently available when you:

• Create a new course
• Edit course properties and features

This is just the beginning, we plan to expand the image selector to additional areas of the platform in future updates, providing you with consistent image management wherever you need it.
